Workshop - The bright side of intellectual property
Intellectual property acts as a catalyst for the success of startup companies. In particular, owning patents facilitates the access to capital mostly from venture capitalists. A study from Harvard and New York Universities shows that startups with patents create more jobs, enjoy higher sales growth, innovate more, and are more likely to go public of be acquired. Thus the knowledge of the basics of the intellectual property system is indispensable for scientists aiming in starting their own company.
This workshop will introduce you to the world of IP protection and the does and don’ts of managing your most vital company assets, the intellectual property.
Furthermore, this introduction will be an indispensable preparation for the SwissCompanyMaker workshop taking place on April 17, 18 and 25, 2018 in Bern.

The SwissCompanyMaker (SCM) is a consortium of several Swiss research institutes in high-technology fields founded by the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Chemical Biology and the Swiss Integrative Center for Human Health (SICHH). The partnership also includes the NCCR TransCure, the NCCR PlanetS, NCCR RNA&Disease and the School of Management HEG Fribourg. The CTI supports this national initiative since 2016.
