  • CECAM Psi-k research conference — Electronic-structure simulations for large-scale facilities: Opportunities, challenges, and roadmaps

  • MARVEL seminar: "AI guided materials discovery of van der Waals magnets" (Trevor David Rhone)

  • CECAM-MARVEL Mary Ann Mansigh series: Science writing and science editing - from journals to journalism

    CECAM and MARVEL present a new event in our Mary Ann Mansigh Conversation series. In a discussion with Nature Physics editor Nina Meinzer and former Nature/Chemistry World news editor Mark Peplow, we will explore how scientific editing and scientific journalism work, how they are being transformed by new technologies, how young scientists can learn to better interact with editors and writers - or become editors and writers themselves.

  • Ig Nobel Award Tour Show 2024

    On Tuesday April 16, after a 5-year break, with the support of the NCCR MARVEL, EPFL will welcome for the fifth time the Ig Nobel Award Tour Show, with Marc Abrahams and the Ig Nobel Prize winners Chris Moulin, Damien Bouffard and Minna Lyons. We will be talking about people who habitually stay up late, about sexual activity of anchovies, or about repeating a single word many, many, many, many, many, many, many times. A great evening ahead!

  • MARVEL site visit 2024

    The Site Visit for MARVEL year 10 will take place on March 18-19, 2024. At this occasion, the Review Panel — international board of evaluation of the NCCR MARVEL — will meet the members of the project. This year, the event will be held online and take place over 2 afternoons.  We invite everyone on the EPFL campus – and in particular the speakers – to come to EPFL room Coviz2 (MED 2 1124) to attend the event together. For each project, the progress will be presented via an overview of the project leader as well as two junior presentations.

  • International Women’s Day — Sciences, féminin pluriel

    On Thursday 29 February 2024, on the occasion of International Women's Day a few days later, EPFL is organising an event on the theme: "Sciences, feminine plural - How women can invest in science and technology". The aim of the conference is to highlight the careers of women in technical fields, to inform and discuss the role of EPFL and other players in advancing equality for women in these fields, and to network. MARVEL will be present with a booth presenting its actions for equal opportunities as well as the #NCCRWomen campaign.
