INSPIRE visiting PhD fellowships
These MARVEL INSPIRE visiting PhD fellowships aim at promoting international collaborations, while supporting young researchers from underrepresented groups (by gender, ethnicity, or any other status), with a special focus on women, and on researchers from sub-Saharan countries, in their career steps, developing their scientific network and increasing their self-confidence. They support PhD students and junior postdocs from outside the NCCR for a stay of 3 to 6 months in a MARVEL computational lab.
The selected applicants get a fellowship covering the difference between the net monthly salary received in their home institution and CHF 2’500 per month, + travel expenses and separate coverage of medical insurance (for non EU participants).
How to apply
Applicants need to be enrolled as a PhD student or as a postdoc (for not longer that 2 years after the PhD) in a home institution.
Applicants need to contact a computational Principal Investigator from the NCCR MARVEL they would like to work with and get their support for a collaborative work. A list of the participating labs is available here.
Then, the application with the documents mentioned hereafter has to be sent to inspire@nccr-marvel.ch
By the applicant
- a motivation letter, including the dates of the planned visit and the benefits for their current research project
- a résumé (Curriculum vitae)
- the proof of enrollment, as a PhD student or a postdoc, in the home institution
By the hosting lab
- a common statement (max 1 page) from the PhD/postdoc supervisor in the home institution and the head of the welcoming MARVEL lab, sharing their agreement and support about this visit, mentioning their motivation to support this collaboration between their labs and the associate benefits.
Only complete applications will be considered. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
